: Here is a letter from a customer:
br:: THE 2010 CORN MAZE ADVENTURE:  THE FARMER’S COWlick!             “It was the perfect day to wander around a corn maze.  The air had a fall chill and the sun was weakly trying to show through an overcast sky.  Kristin had tried to tempt me with riding my horse through the maze next weekend, but Dave and I decided to walk the maze and  labyrinth together, with no horse!              Last trip to Fort Hill Farms was in May, 2009.  Kristin certainly hasn’t let the grass grow under her feet.  She and her husband Peter had all kinds of new surprises awaiting us just one year later.  The first thing I noticed was the beautiful pergola they built with a stone foundation and stone benches.  Dave liked the quality kerosene lanterns used to light the walkway.  The pergola is at one end of the field; while at the other end, by the pond, is a gorgeous gazebo.  I can easily see why their farm grounds are rented for weddings and summer cookouts by big corporations such as Stop & Shop.          Another new innovation at the farm: Since Kristin grows her perennials organically in 72 gardens, they transformed the greenhouse into a home for their calves,  so  that the calves get  sunlight and important Vitamin D all year.  Who knew calves need vit. D too??!!  Kristin and Peter!             Another huge  project was setting up “The Creamery”  in their old house built in 1889.  The 72 gardens around The Creamery they call  “Boston UNcommon” where you walk around and stroll the gardens while you eat the most delicious  ice cream made w/their own milk, The Farmer’s Cow.  Customers who have been buying The Farmer’s Cow milk for 5+ years named the 11 flavors, eg.,  Hay, Hay, Hay Vanilla; Fields of Mint Chocolate Chip, Muddy Boots Chocolate,  Summer Meadow Strawberry.  Dave loved the strawberry while I had the vanilla covered in caramel topping.  One guy in line was so enraptured, I thought I was going to have to give him a taste!  He decided my treat looked so good he was getting exactly what I had!   Well he won’t be sorry as it was the best I’ve ever tasted—Dave wholeheartedly agrees!             Between running a dairy farm selling milk and ice cream, greenhouses with perennials and 70 display gardens to maintain, where does Kristin have time for their phenomenal corn maze?  I call her a dynamo and Dave has referred to Kristin as the Energizer Bunny.  Personally I don’t know when the gal eats or sleeps.  One of their workers, Ray, introduced us to the ins and outs of the corn maze.  He said they didn’t close up shop last night until midnight.  He was telling us they do flashlight nights on Friday and Saturday and expect about 200 participants each night..  There is something here for everyone! br
The wind was whipping around outside the maze, but on our journey through we found it was like being in a cocoon.  We were protected from the wind and it was warmer than being in the field.  Dave claimed “This is more fun than I thought.”             Halloween Weekend was also pick yourself a FREE pumpkin weekend.  So we left with a great big pumpkin for the front porch.  We bumped into Kristin several times during the afternoon as she worked out of her “office” -with the license plate “I FARM”!  I told Kristin I was very impressed with the way they keep everything meticulously maintained.  She replied “Sure it is a lot of work, but at the end of the day I am fulfilled!”     Thank you, Gracias, Carol, Waterbury
